Volta Solar’s Recent Installations

Here at Volta Solar we are always looking to provide an excellent service. Here are examples of recent Solar PV installations from happy customers.

Phil Shields from Preston

Phil is a doctor and owns a Grade II listed building. Due to planning restrictions he wanted a ground mounted system to be located in his large garden area. Using the Hilti mounting frame, Power One outdoor inverter and the latest A Sun Black panels we achieved a 4 kWp ground mounted system. Volta Solar took care of everything, including liaising with the local planning authority, design and installation of the system and obtaining full planning approval.

Mike James from Macclesfield

Mike owns an impressive house in a really nice area and aesthetics were just as important as performance when it came to choosing the right panels. Mike eventually opted for the latest new BLACK on BLACK ASUN panels, 10 panels on his front south facing roof and 6 panels on his side East facing roof utilising a Power One MPPT dual tracker inverter. Mike was delighted with the final sleek finished look of the panels, far better than the neighbours!

Phil and Isabel from Preston

Phil and Isabel wanted to maximize their roof space and not miss out on the generous government backed Feed in Tariffs available in the UK at moment and chose a 3.96 kW Sharp PV Solar Panel System for their bungalow.

They received several quotes from other company’s but really liked the no-nonesense friendly approach from Volta Solar Ltd and their honest assessment. A date was agreed for the installation, 25% deposit paid and Phil and Isabel were able to relax, have a holiday in between, and look forward to their new talking point in the close!

Phil was extremely complimentary about the installation team and the way the lads installed a very professional and eye-catching design. On the second day the installation was commissioned and Phil beamed from ear to ear when he saw the money he was generating – immediately!

A full installation pack was presented to Phil and Isabel along with their MCS certificate to enable them to qualify for the Feed in Tariff via their electricity company. The form was completed by Volta Solar on their behalf to ensure a smooth transition as part of the customer service.

Phil and Isabel rated the standards of Volta Solar from initial enquiry, site survey, fitting and standard of work as excllent and on a scale of 1 to 10 – gave us a glowing 10 out of 10 – what more can you say!

Volta Solar Ltd really enjoyed working with Phil and Isabel and designing a system that will generate them money and reduce their electricity bills for many many years to come.

David and Marcia Waite

David and Marcia have opted for a flat roof PV Solar system that utilises their “dead” roof space and is unobtrusive to the neighbours. A 2.94 kW system was installed using 12 x Sharp 245 Watt panels and unlike a pitched roof the panels are mounted on angle frames and positioned in the best way possible to maximize the light and avoid any shadows for maximum performance.

The angle frames are secured to the flat roof using blocks and therefore no drilling is required maintaining the integrity of the roof to avoid any potential leaks.

A Fronius inverter was chosen and fitted in the garage for easy access and altogether the installation took three days to complete.

David was delighted with the end result, and despite a delay with delivery of the panels on the second day, overall he thought the installation and company were first class.

Alf and Christine Barlow

Alf and Christine just couldn’t believe the Feed in Tariff incentive and therefore opted for the biggest system that would fit on their roof to ensure the maximum reward for their investment. 15 x 245 watt panels was the end result, just missing out on the full 4 kW system by one panel.

Scaffolding was required due to the height of the roof and also the conservatory at the rear of the property making it awkward for roof access, so this was assembled on the first day, all the electrics and inverter were fitted on the second day, with the solar panels and final commissioning completed on the third day.

Volta Solar also filled in all the paperwork on behalf of Alf and Christine for their feed in tariff entitlement and they can now sit back and relax and watch the payments roll in.

Roy Jones, Runcorn

Roy, an engineer by trade, wanted to instal micro-inverters and the latest Sanyo panels which meant he could monitor each individual panels performance on his pc.

Due to the close promixity of a railway bridge, shading was a problem and so each of the twelve panels has its own individual mini inverter, as opposed to the traditional one inverter for the whole pv array. Each panel works separately and if shading is an issue across two or three panels at a certain time of day it does not affect the performance of the other individual panels.

Roy was delighted with his system and very complimentary about our service and commitment to this project.

Ron Colville from Runcorn, Cheshire

Ron had decided to go solar after seeing his friend’s installation that we had previously completed and being recommended our service. Ron had two roof orientations, one south facing and one south west facing. We were able to create a 2.64 kWp system by placing eight 220watt Sharp panels on the south facing roof and four panels on the south west facing roof on one string using a Sunny Boy 2500 HF inverter.

Stuart, Lancaster

Stuart’s garage roof provided the ideal surface for his solar panels. Due to the flat roof Volta Solar applied for planning permission on Stuart’s behalf and took care of all the paperwork, drawings, plans and liaised closely with Lancaster City Council to ensure the array fitted in with the area of natural beauty.

Stuart chose 16 x 245 Watt Sharp solar panels which were mounted on an angled aluminium frame and the Power One inverter was placed inside the garage.

Stuart was absolutely delighted with the quality, service and standard of fitting so much so that he has recommended to his close neighbour.

Ron, Wigan

Ron Southern from Wigan wanted the best system for his South facing roof and to make sure the neighbours were happy with their view of his property and opted for the 240 watt Sanyo panels creating a 3.6 kW system and a big smile from Mrs Jones at number 34!

Chris, Preston

Chris Wearden from Preston wanted to maximise his garage workshop roof and we created a 10 kW system for him on his East/West facing roofs using Sharp solar panels and two Fronius inverters. Chris uses a lot of electricity during the day in the garage workshop and is delighted with the results and the FITs payments he receives.

John, Lancaster

John from Lancaster is a former engineer and chose the new Hyundai 250 watt panels for his lovely Lancastrian home. Rather than fill his roof with panels he wanted to ensure that he didn’t offend his neighbours (too much) and decided 14 panels on the front with the black frames blended in well – we agree!
